GM Begins Work On Electric Motor Factory

General Motors Co. says it broke ground today on an electric motor plant in White Marsh, Md., near Baltimore, where it will manufacture major components used in electric cars. GM says the plant, which is scheduled to open in 2013, will be the first by a big U.S. automaker to be dedicated to vehicle electrification.

Growing GM to Invest in Midwest

TOLEDO -- GM said Tuesday it will invest $240 million to expand its Toledo transmission plan, underscoring the automaker's resurgence and its plan to invest about $2 billion in eight states, mainly in the Midwest, over the next few months.

GM Reports Net Income of $3.2 Billion

DETROIT – General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) today announced first quarter net income attributable to common stockholders of $3.2 billion, or $1.77 per fully-diluted share, marking the company’s fifth consecutive profitable quarter.  Revenue increased $4.7 billion to $36.2 billion, compared with the first quarter of 2010.

 

Chrysler Group LLC Announces Refinancing Transaction

MICHIGAN - Chrysler Group LLC (“Chrysler Group”) announced today that it intends, subject to market and other conditions, to repay in full the outstanding obligations under the loans provided to Chrysler Group by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Canadian federal and Ontario governments.
