General Motors will reveal details Wednesday about its plans to expand its powertrain engineering complex in Pontiac.

GM last year received a 12-year tax abatement for an $87.6-million investment at its Global Powertrain Engineering Headquarters. Pontiac city records indicate that GM was planning to add about 300 jobs in the expansion.

The facility has about 3,500 employees, GM spokesman Dan Flores said. He declined to offer details about the expansion.

“What we do there is essentially all the engineering, development and testing for all of our propulsion technology – internal combustion engines, transmissions, the hybrid technology,” Flores said.
