General Motors Co. will build an all-new GMC Canyon pickup at its Wentzville Assembly Plant in Missouri, the automaker said Thursday.

The midsize Canyon joins production plans at Wentzville, where GM is investing $380 million to build that pickup and an all-new Colorado. GMC officials would not say when the Canyon will be available to customers.

GMC and Buick officials also said they will roll out nine other all-new or significantly updated Buick and GMC models that will hit showrooms by the end of 2013. The rollout begins with refreshed 2013 Buick Enclaves and GMC Acadias, which arrive this fall.

GM said there is still a market for mid-size trucks; some consumers don't want a full-size pickup, but still "want the ability to haul things," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick and GMC marketing.
