You've made the effort to cycle to work, but are constantly rewarded for your exertions with a sweaty shirt. Now Ford has the answer to your (and your co-workers') prayers.

The company - best known for its cars and trucks - has designed an electric bike that will make pedalling easier if you start to sweat.

The MoDe:Flex connects to a smartphone app and reads the rider's heart rate, providing electric pedal assistance if the going gets tough.

The "No Sweat" mode - a lifesaver for commuters hoping to keep cool in the summer - is one of a number of features on Ford's new bike, which will also make its handlebars vibrate if a pothole is coming up.

A paired smartphone will also get up to date traffic and navigation data, meaning the quickest possible commute, as well as reading fitness data. The rider is given directions via an audio headset.

The front of the bike will also detach from the back, allowing users to store them in cars or at work.
