The fuel economy of the 2015 Chrysler 200 has been certified by the U.S. EPA with a combined fuel economy of 28 miles per gallon — a big improvement over the model it replaces and lands it in the middle of the close pack in the competitive midsize sedan market segment.

The automaker's new midsize sedan is by far the most important new car or truck the company will launch this year. Built in Sterling Heights, Mich., it replaces a lackluster model that was viewed as more of a rental car than as a top competitor in the midsize segment, which is the largest market segment in the U.S. auto industry.
