An Assumption College Catholic High School robotics team headed to a championship competition in the United States is getting a $5,000 helping hand from Chrysler.

The Chrysler Foundation, the automaker’s charitable arm, announced Monday it is giving the grant to the team to help cover expenses to attend the 2013 For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Robotics Competition Championship in St. Louis, Mo., later this week.

Earlier this year, the foundation gave the Sandwich Secondary School robotics team a similar grant. In all, the foundation has given out $185,000 to FIRST robotics teams from the U.S. and Canada for 2013.

“The Chrysler Foundation and Chrysler Group are proud to play a role in encouraging students to explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education,” Jody Trapasso, the company’s senior vice-president of external affairs and foundation president, said in a press release. “We wish all of the teams the best of luck as they embark on this exciting and rewarding challenge.”
