The U.S. auto industry is poised to report November sales cruised to another four-year high, a sign that the domestic market has returned to health even while Europe and Asia sales falter.

"The auto industry seems to be defying the overall economic position" of the country, said Jim Lentz, head of Toyota Motor Corp.'s U.S. sales arm.

Industry executives interviewed ahead of this week's Los Angeles Auto Show said November results, due out next week, should continue the year's big gains.
