American Automakers Laud Commerce Department’s Funding Announcement to Grow U.S. Production of Microcontroller Units
Washington, D.C. – The American Automakers Policy Council (AAPC) today praised the U.S. Department of Commerce’s CHIPS Program Funding announcement to increase U.S. production of microcontroller units (MCUs), a critical component to American automotive businesses and the domestic manufacturing supply chain.
“AAPC’s member companies are critical to the U.S. economy and depend on greater domestic production of auto tech components. We support the bipartisan CHIPS Act that strengthens America’s supply chains for semiconductors needed most by manufacturers. Today’s announcement expands U.S. production capacity for MCUs and other critical components necessary to manufacture vehicles in the United States now and in the future. American Automakers remain committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure greater domestic production of auto tech components,” said Governor Matt Blunt, president of AAPC.
The $162 million incentive package made possible by the bipartisan CHIPS Act will support Microchip Technology’s move to grow domestic production of MCUs.
