The GM Foundation will award grants totaling $50,000 on Wednesday to eight local nonprofits in the Detroit and Brownstown communities as part of its Plant City Grants program.

At the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant, GM Foundation President Vivian Pickard presented the grants on behalf of the local GM facilities — Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly and Brownstown Battery Plant.

“The GM Foundation is deeply committed to strengthening the communities that our employees call home,” GM Foundation President Vivian Pickard said. “This year, we’re providing $2 million to hundreds of organizations in 45 plant cities that provide critical resources that these communities rely on each and every day.”

Through the GM Foundation’s Plant City Grants program, funds will support the following organizations and community programs: Alkebulan Village, Blessings in a Backpack, Detroit Impact, Dream Chasers, Green Living Science, Neighborhood Service Organization, Southwest Solutions and Winning Futures.
