A unique Chrysler training facility opened in partnership with the United Auto Workers union two years ago is significantly exceeding initial expectations.

Since officially opening in 2012, the World Class Manufacturing Academy has expanded its operations to 40,000 square feet, grown from a handful of classes to 45, and has had more than 9,000 employees come through its doors – roughly four times more people than officials expected to have after two years.

“Many people still thought this was the flavor of the month, even when we opened our doors in 2012,” said Scott Tolmie, Chrysler World Class Manufacturing Academy lead, during a media tour of the Warren, Mich. facility. “But that’s long past. WCM is here to stay, and it is the only way we run our business.”
