A refreshed 2015 Chevrolet Cruze will hit showrooms this fall, featuring a new front face similar to others in the Chevy sedan lineup, interior convenience features and more technology, General Motors Co. said Sunday.

The popular compact Cruze, getting a facelift after debuting in fall 2010, will be shown at the New York International Auto Show this week, as the carmaker hopes to attract attention onto new vehicles and away from its recall crisis tied to 2.59 million vehicles no longer in production.

“GM needs to counter its recent spate of negative headlines with positive news from the New York auto show,” Karl Brauer, senior analyst for Kelley Blue Book, said in a statement. “The updated Cruze should help buyers look away from the automaker’s troubled compact car past and toward a brighter future.”
