The first 2015 Ford F-150 rolls off the line today, and Ford leadership knows quality is paramount if the gamble on an aluminum-bodied pickup is to pay off.

"The F-150 is the most-watched launch in the industry right now," said Raj Nair, Ford's head of global product development, who has a record 23 global launches to oversee this year; 16 of them in North America.

"We know the importance of getting the F-150 right," Nair told reporters in Dearborn on Monday. The automaker's top executives were preparing to gather today at the Ford Rouge Center to celebrate the transformation of the pickup, as well as the body shop of the Dearborn Truck Plant and the Dearborn stamping facility to manufacture the new aluminum truck.
