When it come to keeping the new 2015 Chrysler 200 close to its Detroit roots, designers looked to icons of American design for inspiration -- Chris Craft yachts, Eames chairs and Airstream trailers.

Chrysler plans to press home the all-American marketing message in selling the car -- even if the new 200's underpinnings are Italian. It will also emphasize quality.

The car is crafted in higher-quality materials -- from wood to aluminum -- not just plastic, says Klaus Busse, Chrysler's head of interior design. That will keep the car feeling authentic.
