AAPC Statement on Trade Negotiations with Japan, EU and UK

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Gov. Matt Blunt, president of the American Automotive Policy Council, issued the following statement on the Trump administration’s intention to start trade negotiations with Japan, the European Union and the United Kingdom:

“We are encouraged the Trump administration could soon start trade negotiations with Japan, the EU and the UK.  We urge the United States to use these negotiations to secure the meaningful acceptance of vehicles built to U.S. safety standards and the creation of a process that will drive the development of common new standards.  Any new trade agreement must also address non-tariff barriers, and include strong and enforceable provisions that prevent countries from manipulating their currency.”

The American Automotive Policy Council (AAPC) is a Washington, D.C. association that represents the common public policy interests of its member companies FCA US LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company.
