We knew the 2015 Ford Mustang would be fast, but exactly how fast?

Well, now we know that too. Sort of.

While it’ll still be a couple of months before the performance specifications for the new Mustang are detailed in full, the man with the plan has confirmed the top speeds of models equipped with each of the three engines available.

In an interview with Autoevolution, Mustang Chief Engineer Dave Pericak revealed that coupes with the carry-over entry-level 305 hp V6 will have their electronic limiters increased from today’s 113 mph to 121 hp, while 5.0-liter V8 models get a boost from 149 mph to 155 mph.

The last of those figures is in line with the gentleman’s agreement among European carmakers aimed at keeping speeds on the German Autobahn relatively reasonable, and clearly indicative of Ford’s global ambitions for the updated Mustang.
